Ghost Sighting, our employee spotlight series is heading to Denver, Colorado to get to know Michael Wilson. Keep reading to get to know Michael and his family!

Tell us a bit about yourself.

My wife and I are originally from Louisiana and moved to Chicago after college to start our design careers. We have an eight year old son that was born after our move to Denver and two huge Maine Coons: Alistair Winterfell and Hamish O’Donnell. We love the city but love the mountains just as much. We still get back to Louisiana, specifically New Orleans, as often as we can.

What’s your role at Ghost and what made you want to join the team?

I’m Senior Product Designer focusing on design strategy, user experience, user interface design, and honestly anything design-related at Ghost. I'd been following the leadership team throughout my years working in cybersecurity and was always impressed with their perspectives, appreciation of the power of design, and deep commitment to a good culture. When I saw their announcement about launching Ghost, I immediately jumped at the opportunity to join their team.

What does a typical weekend look like for you? What do you like to do when you’re not working?

Weekends are always about striking a balance between relaxing and adventure. We’re huge fans of the outdoors and there is no shortage of activities in Colorado. We love camping, skiing, and snowshoeing and I enjoy motorcycling through the mountains. When we’re not outside, we’re probably working on a new Lego set, 3d printing project, or catching up on movies.

Offroad

You’ve got a free plane ticket to anywhere in the world. Where do you go and why?

Oh that’s a tough one. There are so many places we’d like to visit for the first time and so many we’d like to visit again. I’ll have to say Barcelona because I can’t seem to stop talking about our time there. The people, the food, the culture, the architecture—it’s truly one of our favorite places we’ve visited. ut.

As you look at the next year at Ghost, what excites you the most?

Everything. This is my favorite part of working for an early stage startup. Working with a great group of people on a great idea with great leadership while solving extremely important problems is how I define a dream job and this is it.
